When I made this video, it was like jumping in a puddle of clear water, then as water settles down around the ankles, the undulating liquid displayed mesmerising reflections..

exploding and merging, fragments of images, pieces of life, fluid yet broken, chaotic yet contained and throbs like a blue heart imprisoned by mind.

Why not? So I aimed my digital camera straight into the sun while I was trimming backyard vegetation. I remember as a small child I challenged the sun, stared without blinking while it set over Manila Bay. The sun as I saw it turned into a sea of blue, then darkness as it disappeared behind the water now filled with reclamation concrete. I thought I won the duel even if it persisted to burn my cornea into a crisp.I t was fun working on this image (above). A humble perception of Ra disappearing beyond an invisible horizon.

Image (above) created from photo I took of Wally Gonzalez in Sydney. A quiet gentleman as he meditated on notes woven with an old Fender. Awesome Filipino musician!

For you Sir Wally, more power to Juan dela Cruz Band!

Wild Horses & Snakes

Image (above) created from a bunch of green and red chilli. Eating them will drive any life form wild.

The Strange Chook

As image of Sunspots evolved, the chicken in my backyard devolved into screeching megaphones. Impatient beings! I feed them on cue with wheat grain and kitchen left-overs like leaky grapes and tutong (burnt portions of cooked rice). One particular hen gave me a hard time with its endless cackling. Image (above) is gift hoping it soothes her nerves. Photo-mental power! (Oh why can’t just they shut up and lay their eggs!:-)

Mental Landscapes

November 5, 2007

I rarely dream nor have nightmares, but when I do they leave residual

bliss or dark scars and there’s always a need to externalize them.

One time I was floating like a seed on a vast landscape, umbilical cord broken
and scared to look up.

Young Woman

November 5, 2007

This image evolved from a photo of us of Leila, a young student of mine in airbrush drawing.
Her art teacher in high school has sent her to me via my son Michael. She was so eager to learn
this tricky art instrument and has strugged a bit in the beginning.

Her determination paid off and is now very comfortable wielding it,
like swords of men she painted and exhibited in her school (photos with my son, Michael)

(photo with Mr. Romeo, Leila’s art teacher in high school)

Good luck Leila. As they say, Art is the only way.

Kookaburra Dreaming

November 2, 2007

In my backyard I’ve constructed a small pond

with a lot of koi and goldfish in it. An acacia tree stands sentry and

is roost for a couple of kookaburras (Australian Kingfisher). Since I’ve

put a net to cover the pond, I’ve never lost a fish to them. I wonder

what they’re thinking of me. And so this digital art is for them.

American Girl

November 2, 2007

There was this American girl who came to visit and interview me for Artfiles, an artists network.

She’s gone back to Missouri and not a word from her, and I’ve forgotten her name.

From photo taken of two of us I’ve created this digital print.
